During the month of May, the City of Austin will join municipalities across the nation to observe Building Safety Month. This observance is led by the International Code Council, which strives to remind the public about the critical role local code officials play in keeping our buildings safe, efficient and livable.
The International Code Council is comprised of local, state and federal officials with expertise in the built environment to create and implement codes to protect the public in the buildings where we live, learn, work, worship, and play. These International codes are the most widely adopted building safety, energy and fire prevention codes in the nation, and also include safeguards that protect the public from natural disasters.
