Austin Public Health is partnering with local agencies to provide health services at a new health resource center in the Colony Park area in far East Austin. APH will offer health screenings and diabetes classes in both English and Spanish. The center will also provide other non-clinical services including eligibility assessments for the Medical Access Program (MAP), referrals, and other services.
The Northeast Health Resource Center will be located in a portable building at Overton Elementary School provided by the Austin Independent School District. It’s next door to the Turner-Roberts Recreation Center, where a CommUnity Care mobile clinic provides services one day a month, with plans to expand to include more days.
The City of Austin is working with Central Health to open a permanent health care clinic, which is called for in the recently completed Colony Park Master Plan. The Plan is part of the development and revitalization plans for the city-owned tract in this neighborhood.
