I am writing you to commend one of your detectives that went above and beyond the call of duty for my family.
On December 3, 2015 our house in was broken in to. My wife arrived home around 8 p.m. with our 3 year old triplets asleep in the car. I was in Dripping Springs at our family ranch. Upon arriving home she noticed that several things were very unusual in our house. She immediately went outside and called 911. She then went two doors down and knocked on our neighbor, Detective "Chip” Riley’s front door. He asked her to wait there and he went and got his things to protect himself as well as my wife and family. He waited with my family until police arrived. He assisted her in moving my family out of harm’s way until the patrol units arrived.
After the police arrived they were called away for a prowler down the road. He stayed with my wife and kept her informed on what was going on. When the police returned to our house and went inside, Chip politely asked if it was okay for him to enter our home. He was not assigned to the case but wanted to ensure we were comfortable with him being in our home. He walked through our house and told us what the police were doing and helped us process the fact that someone had in fact been in our home and ransacked several of our rooms. He also help us out on what to expect on the coming days when it would finally hit us on what had happened.
Chip went above and beyond his call of duty that night. He took time away from his wife and child to be with my family when I was unable to be there. I cannot thank him enough for the service he provided to family and our neighborhood that night.
Once again Thank You APD and Detective Chip Riley for what you do and have done!!
