Campers from the Austin Nature & Science Center’s summer day camp program enjoy a visit from a hot air balloon.
This morning, the twelve campers and their counselors visited a hot air balloon in Zilker Park. The campers learned about the principles of physics that allow the heavy basket to float in the air, and then they got a chance to try it themselves! The balloon was anchored to the aeronauts van, but it was still exciting to rise thirty feet in the air and hear the roaring of the giant flame burning. Several other members of the summer camp staff even came by to take in this amazing sight. When the balloon rides were over, the campers even got to help the aeronauts pack the giant balloon down into a tiny bag, and helped get the extra air out by sitting on it!

Everyone got a chance to try out the equipment when a hot air balloon touched done in the great lawn of Zilker Park last week.
