Dear Chief Acevedo,
I was on Lamar Blvd today and was crying in my car. An officer, whose name I did not get, flagged me to pull over. I rolled down my window, and he asked me if I was okay. I told him I was driving home from Christopher House, a hospice center in Austin, and I had a friend who had hours left in her life. He asked me to get out of the car, and he asked if he could hug me. As I embraced this stranger I wept. I left tears and snot all over his uniform. I did my best to clean him up, but he said that he'd get it himself. His compassion helped me get through a very difficult day. I know there are a small percentage of police officers that abuse the system, but today I found one that was willing to serve his community. I wanted to write you this note to tell you what I experienced. Please hire more people like him. They make this world a better place.
