Intern Blog: Week 2
Week two is in the books, and I am getting more comfortable in the office. I have personalized my desk, brought my “I solemnly swear I am up to no good” mug for my daily tea (currently on a chai tea kick), and got my City of Austin badge (which doesn’t work yet). I spent this week setting up social media posts and a social media holiday calendar to keep track of posts for all of Austin’s holiday needs. In the office this week, we had a Thanksgiving potluck for Economic Development Department. All of the divisions came together, both from my office and City Hall, to share a lunchtime meal, complete with a crackling fire put up on the projector screens. The biggest project we have on the books is the Live Music fund that got its $12m funding when Prop B failed in the latest election. I am doing research on how other cities around the US have used hotel occupancy taxes (HOT funds) to fund arts and music. Well, that’s all for this week, I’ll see you next time Austinites!
