Earlier this month, SPO Abbink visited my Gender Identity group to speak about his story, his work with the department and what to expect as a person with Gender Identity issues in dealing with APD.
His talk was really inspirational to the students, but very educational too. He affected these children on several levels, and took a place as a role model for them. These students are so, so at risk that having positive example is extremely important.
I thank you both for allowing him the time to have a conversation with these students, and for supporting him in being such an important role model to our community. He is, as is APD, a great example for my students and many more we don't see at McCallum and in Austin.
