The City of Austin has a strong reputation for being green, with numerous environmental commitments, policies, and ordinances enacted over several decades. But have you ever wondered about the outcomes of those commitments? How close are we to meeting the goals that we’ve set? Where are we doing well and where could we improve? Just how green are we really?
We are excited to share an online dashboard with four years worth of data on more than 40 key performance indicators for sustainability. These indicators are grouped into 10 major categories of information that support the three pillars of sustainability: 1) prosperity and jobs; 2) conservation and the environment; and 3) community health, equity, and cultural vitality.
The data will be updated annually, or more frequently if data is available, and used by City leaders to inform their decision-making. Beyond guiding City actions, we also hope that the community will use this information to consider how they can support sustainability goals for Austin.
We invite you to explore this dashboard and share it with your friends and family. This dashboard landing page describes the ten topics and lists all of the related performance metrics that are tracked. To view the data for a specific topic, click on the corresponding icon below.
Think about where you can take action to make Austin even greener. Armed with this information, we can all work together to ensure Austin’s bright, green future!
