Recognizing that small businesses are the foundation of our local economy, the City of Austin embarked on a City-wide project with a mission to encourage organizational changes that establish Austin as the Best Managed City with regard to small business development.

Small businesses have historically led our country out of recession and Austin continues to be the top city in the country for small business growth and expansion. Austin's success can be attributed to its large pool of college graduates; thriving collaborations between corporate, government and universities; and higher than average population growth. Small business owners can take advantage of many no-cost or low-cost means to expand their business acumen and find assistance to aid the growth of their businesses.
