Austin Water Utility Service Improvements

Austin Water Utility is making these planned improvements to ensure Austin's water supply for years to come.

Water Improvements

Water Treatment Plant 4

Austin Water Utility is constructing a new water treatment facility, Water Treatment Plant 4 (WTP4) in northwest Austin that will draw water from Lake Travis.  WTP4 will consist of water intakes, a pump station, and pipelines to get water from Lake Travis into the treatment facility. Transmission mains will carry water from the treatment plant and then into the water distribution system and eventually into homes, schools, fire hydrants and businesses.

The first phase of WTP4 will produce 50 million gallons of water a day (mgd) and will be operational by 2014. The plant, after all the phases are built, will ultimately be able to produce 300 mgd.

Ullrich Water Treatment Plant

The Ullrich Water Treatment Plant has increased capacity from 100 millions of gallons per day (mgd) to 160 mdg

Wastewater Improvements

South Austin Regional Treatment Plant

Austin Water Utility has recently expanded the South Austin Regional Treatment Plant, increasing capacity to 75 mgd.

Austin Water Utility is owned and operated by the City of Austin, Texas.
