The new trail improvements at Bartholomew District Park are in the initial phase for the implementation of the Bartholomew Master Plan. The main focus will be a trail starting at the intersection of Berkman Drive and East 51st Street, crossing Tannehill Branch Creek and terminating at the intersection of Berkman Drive and Greenbrook Parkway.

Intersection of E. 51st Street and Berkman Drive at the southwest corner of Bartholomew District Park. Lack of accessible connections and utility conflicts from the street right-of-way into the park.

Project Purpose

The purpose of the project is to provide additional accessibility connections and improvements within the park including walkways, playgrounds, restrooms and vehicle parking.

Project Scope

The new 1,000-foot-long and 6-foot-wide concrete trail will increase the accessibility within the park and reduce maintenance costs through designated pathways. ADA improvements required to be addressed include:  restroom modifications, playground equipment changes, sidewalk improvements, drinking fountain replacement, and construction of accessible parking spaces, replacing park furniture and vegetation removal.
