The Dove Springs Recreation Center (DSRC) opened its doors on March 28, 1998 to provide citizens of the Dove Springs community recreational and educational resources. The 18,000 square foot center contains a full court gymnasium, weight room, arts and crafts room/computer lab, class room, dance studio, and meeting rooms.
With funding allocated from the 2012 GO Bond, the Parks and Recreation Department is currently renovating and adding new space to meet the desires for expanded programming. The building renovation and expansion project, which started in Summer 2018, will be integrated with improvements to the park and playscape, which opened in Spring 2015. The project is expected to be complete in early Fall 2019.
Construction for this project began on July 23, 2018 and progress continues today. Renovations on the interior include the addition of a commercial kitchen, a mobile study area, reconfiguration of staff spaces and improvements to building systems & finishes. The expansion of the Recreation Center includes a new dance and fitness studio and covered porch which opens toward the park playscape. Progress photos will periodically be added to this site.
During this time, some recreation programs will be relocated to nearby facilities. For up to date information on programming arrangements, click here, or contact staff at 512-974-3840.

Community Open House & Workshop #2 – September 18, 2014
After presenting the architect’s analysis of the current building’s function, we asked the community to work in small groups to prioritize the types of spaces they would most like to see within the Recreation Center expansion. While each group came up with a unique solution, the community was in agreement that they would like to see an instructional kitchen as part of the expanded program of the center. Click the links below to see the diagram and notes that each group compiled.
