Park Information

Govalle Neighborhood Park is located on Bolm Rd. near Airport Blvd. Boggy Creek cuts through the park and Walnut Creek Trails starts here. The playground equipment in the park has been identified as a priority for replacement.

Project Information

The focus of the project will be to bring improvements to the playground. In addition to new equipment, the project will bring playground into ADA compliance and address access and safety concerns. Some preliminary feedback indicates there is community desire to add some recreation amenities, as well. APF will work with the community to identify other amenities or improvements in the park to help prioritize the community's goals and seize on the existing project outreach and engagement to gather their feedback more broadly.

Proposed Schedule

The project is anticipated to span from a July 2020 project kickoff to a proposed December 2021 completion. The proposed schedule below is subject to change and will be updated as needed.

  • August 2020: Community Engagement begins, starting with identifying key stakeholders and providing preliminary information on the project scope and date of first community engagement meeting
  • September 16, 2020: Virtual Community Meeting #1
  • October 2020: APF and PARD review community input to create layout and equipment options
  • November 2020: Virtual Community Meeting 2 (Layout and equipment options)
  • December 2020: APF and PARD review input to identify community-supported final options
  • January 2021: Community Meeting #3 (share back final selection and project scope, timeline, solicit final feedback)
  • March-April 2021: Permit and CD formatting
  • May 2021: Project bidding and award of contract
  • July to December 2021: Construction
  • December 2021: Anticipated project completion

Community Engagement

Overall community engagement plan with tentative dates is included in the schedule above.

Opportunities for feedback on the playground and other desired amenities will include:

  • Online and Text Surveys (English and Spanish)
  • Virtual Community meetings via Zoom (English with live Spanish interpretation)

Our goal is for community members engaged to reflect the known demographics of the neighborhood, with particular interest in involving immediate neighbors to the park.
