Austin took an important step toward a more sustainable future by establishing a goal to reach Zero Waste by 2040 and by adopting the Austin Resource Recovery Master Plan. But we can’t do it alone. In fact, the City of Austin collects just 15 percent of all the materials generated in Austin. So, we rely on partnerships with private sector service providers, nonprofits, educational institutions, public agencies, the business community and Austin residents to make Zero Waste a reality.
