liquid waste hauler programRegardless of where waste is ultimately disposed, Austin Water Utility must permit and inspect all companies collecting, transporting, or disposing liquid waste in the city limits. Anyone disposing liquid waste must use one of these permitted liquid waste haulers.

To obtain a liquid waster transporter permit through Austin Water Utility, the transporter must first be permitted by and registered with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). New customers or existing customers with new vehicles or drivers must then submit the required application packet and/or supporting forms to Austin Water Utility (applicable permit, inspection and/or re-inspection fee payment will be required with application submission):

Austin Water Utility inspects each vehicle’s condition and ensures all inspections are current (see sample inspection form in Adobe PDF). Confirmation of the truck's discharge capacity and other pertinent information will be used to set up an account for those trucks that may be eligible to discharge at the City’s approved receiving station. These inspections must be scheduled in advance through the Austin Water Utility's Special Services Division (SSD). Once scheduled, inspections for haulers with a single vehicle will be held at the SSD Office location at 3907 South Industrial Drive. Those inspections scheduled for haulers with multiple vehicles will be held on the 4000 block of Commercial Center Drive (which is about a quarter of a mile from the SSD Offices).
