Mayor's Fitness Council (MFC)

The MFC works toward increasing physical activity, improving nutrition and decreasing tobacco use throughout the Austin community with the involvement of citizen advocates, businesses, community, faith-based churches, schools and health leaders.

Mission

The mission of the MFC is to support and inspire people to improve their health by encouraging physical activity, improved nutrition and tobacco-free living. The Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department supports the MFC by providing staff support and technical assistance.

The MFC focuses its work on improving lifestyles according to three key Pillars of Health:

  • Physical Activity
  • Nutrition
  • Tobacco-Free Living

Partner Certification

By becoming either an MFC Standard or Gold Certified Partner through the implementation of comprehensive, promising practices and evidence-based worksite policies, your organization will promote healthy lifestyles and help reduce the rates of preventable disease and disability in our community.
