Recent Improvements
Recent improvements to the facilities have added state-of-the art technology to both classroom and hands-on training and increased the capacity for the number of personnel and cadets that can be trained. There are eight available classrooms in the Roy Butler Building, a 50,000-square-foot, two-story classroom facility. Each of these classrooms has:
- Amplifiers and speakers for enhanced audio capability
- Connection for an additional faculty/visitor laptop
- Multimedia projectors installed in the ceiling
- Network computers with DVD players
Facility Amenities
There are three additional classrooms with projectors and TV/VCR capability in the Police Administrative Building and one classroom in the Austin Fire Department building with TV/VCR, ELMO and projector. There is also a computer lab with 30 desktop computers connected to the City network.
Most classrooms have a capacity of 40-45 people. The Roy Butler Building has two adjustable-size classrooms with the flexibility to seat 80-120. In addition to the classroom space, there is a gym, driving track, EVOC Pad, two burn buildings, an outdoor shooting range, shoot house and obstacle course.
