Tanglewood Neighborhood Park was constructed as part of a Municipal Utility District (MUD) back in the 1990’s. The City annexed the park and PARD now has responsibility for the park and its amenities. The park is used by nearby residents for its wooded trails, Tai Chi, playscape, picnics, basketball, and volleyball.

Notice: Construction is in progress.  A delay has occurred due to unexpected subsurface rock and a leaking water service line. The park will now re-open to the public early March 2020.

Project Background

The current playstructures at Tanglewood Neighborhood Park were installed in 1992.

Project Description

Tanglewood Neighborhood Park will receive new playground equipment in Fall 2019. The existing equipment was installed in 1992. Portions of the equipment exhibit rust and are missing components. The existing equipment does not meet current PARD standards in terms of inclusiveness and shade. Sidewalks and part of the parking lot will be replaced to meet current ADA code requirements. The pavilion that burned down in 2012 will be replaced by a new pavilion located closer to the parking lot.  In addition, the picnic shelter nearest to the playground will be refinished. The old pavilion slab will be refurbished, and the basketball court will be resurfaced.

Objectives:

  • Improve the amenities of the park and provide ample opportunities for local residents.
  • Provide modern and updated amenities that will allow for maximum enjoyment of the area.
  • Enhance access to updated park amenities for ADA compliance.
