Waller Creek begins north of the University of Texas campus and meanders through downtown, flowing into Lady Bird Lake, and for many years this area has been subject to severe flooding. Thanks to the Waller Creek Tunnel, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the city’s history, and the pioneering partnership with the Waller Creek Conservancy, a flood-prone area will be revitalized into a leading amenity, designed to be a destination for the city.
The Waller Creek Conservancy was created to act as the steward of Waller Creek by playing a vital role in the preservation, redevelopment and maintenance of the creek’s surrounding parks, nearby businesses, adjoining neighborhoods, and community at large.
When the Waller Creek revitalization is fully realized, it will be a beautiful greenbelt park winding through downtown, creating a healthy ecosystem and a relaxing green oasis within easy walking distance of the busy urban world.
