Commercial and multi-family properties may receive rebates of up to $250 per washer when installing water- and energy- saving coin-operated machines. Only coin-operated models on the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) list are eligible for the rebate. Rebates are not given for new construction or for machines that replace existing front-load washers.
The $250 rebate has two parts: a $150 water rebate and a $100 energy rebate. To qualify for the water rebate, customers must receive water from Austin Water or an eligible water provider. For the energy rebate, customers must have a water heater that uses gas from Texas Gas Service (with one of the qualifying rate codes listed on the application) or electricity supplied by Austin Energy.
To apply: Submit the pre-approval form and wait to receive a Letter of Intent from Water Conservation before purchasing and installing any qualifying washers. Washers must be installed within 90 days of receiving the Letter of Intent.
After completing approved installation: Submit the rebate application, a copy of the itemized purchase receipt, and the serial number of each washer no more than 30 days after purchase or lease. For tax purposes, a completed IRS Form W-9 is also required. For leased equipment, send a copy of documents showing the names and addresses of responsible parties and proof of a lease term of at least 5 years.
