Austin Water residential customers can receive rebates for 50% of the pre-tax purchase price for up to two (2) hose timers, with a maximum rebate of $40 per service account. Any style or brand is eligible, from a simple mechanical timer to a multi-zone, programmable digital timer for multiple hoses. Hose timers must have been purchased on or after September 15, 2012, to qualify. Rebate applications must be submitted within 30 days of purchase.

Plumbing regulations require that these timers be used with hose bibb vacuum breakers. To receive the watering timer rebate, customers must either: (1) purchase a watering timer that has an integrated vacuum breaker or (2) submit itemized receipts for the purchase of the required vacuum breakers. Because the plumbing code requires that vacuum breakers be installed when a watering timer is used, their purchase cannot be rebated.
