Changes to Floodplain Regulations - Stakeholder Meeting

Tuesday, July 17, 2018 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

We have started the process to amend Austin’s floodplain regulations in response to a new rainfall study, called Atlas 14. Please come to a stakeholder meeting to find out more and share your thoughts and experience with us.

We will host at least two stakeholder meetings. The second one will build on the first one, so you may want to attend both of these meetings. We are exploring options to also offer these meetings either through a webinar or through Facebook Live.

As you may be aware, the National Weather Service is completing a historical rainfall study, called Atlas 14. This study shows that Central Texas is more likely to experience larger storms than previously thought. Specifically, the study shows that Austin's current 500-year flood is closer to being a 100-year flood. The 100-year flood has a 1% chance of occurring in any given year.
