For this workshop, we are happy to welcome guest speaker Susan Benton.
Susan Benton is an attorney with 30 years’ experience advising clients across the fine arts, entertainment, and other areas of the creative and cultural sectors. Susan also holds a doctorate in anthropology and has extensive experience advising museums, indigenous communities, collectors, and professional organizations on matters involving antiquities, cultural property, and cultural heritage. In addition to her law practice and consultation, Susan has 25 years’ experience teaching courses on art law, antiquities law, entertainment law, and related topics. She is a frequent speaker within the US and throughout Europe and Australia.
In the arts sector, Susan has advised artists, museums, dealers, and collectors on issues relating to the creation, acquisition, management, and sale of artistic works.
In the entertainment space, Susan has enjoyed working across the genres of music, film, television, and multimedia. Her practice has provided the opportunity to work with many talented and interesting characters, from Barney to Beyoncé. Her most amusing client to date is Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey!
