City of Austin

The 2012 Charter Revision Committee will meet Thursday, Jan. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center, 600 River Street, 78701.

They are slated to discuss the following:

• The pros and cons of various systems of City Council seats, including the current system, hybrid and single-member systems.
• Plans for City Council seats that were presented to the City Council and the Charter Revision Committee.  These plans include the 6-2-1 plan, 8-4-1 plan and the 10-1 plan.

All meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend and become involved with the process.  There are numerous outlets to participate, including the Charter Revision Committee phone line (512) 539-0070 and attending a meeting in person.

The next meeting will be Jan. 19 at The Lord’s Church of Austin, 301 W. Anderson Lane, at 6:30 p.m.

El Comité de Revisión de la Carta 2012 se reunirá este jueves

El Comité de Revisión de la Carta 2012 se reunirá a las 6:30 p.m. el jueves, 5 de enero, en el Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center, 600 River Street, 78701.

Los miembros del Comité han programado una discusión tocante los temas indicados abajo.

• Los pros y cons de varios sistemas de sillas Concejales incluyendo el sistema actual, sistemas híbridos y sistemas Uni-miembro concejales.
• Los planes para formular un mapa del Consejo de la Ciudad en el futuro. Los planes incluyen el plan 6-2-1, el plan 8-4-1 y el plan 10-1.

Todas las reuniones son públicas y se agradece la asistencia de los residentes  y su participación en el proceso.  Hay  varias oportunidades de participar incluyendo por teléfono, llamando a la línea del comité de Revisión de la Carta al (512) 539-0070 y asistiendo a las reuniones del Comité (CRC).

La próxima reunión será el 19 de enero, en la iglesia The Lord’s Church of Austin, 301 W. Anderson Lane, a 6:30 p.m.
