The Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s Aquatic Division needs 518 more lifeguards to reach its goal of 750 by May and is offering scholarships for the training course.
Lifeguards can begin training as early as next week. The Aquatic Division is hosting classes over spring break and is offering training scholarships to those who qualify. Anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard can apply in person from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Aquatic Division office, 2818 San Gabriel St., at the March Hiring Day, or online at lifeguardaustin.com.
- 15-16 years old applicants are required to have a parent present during the interview.
- 17 year old applicants require parent signatures on the applicant paperwork.
