Graduating cadets will be commissioned during ceremony on Friday.
The Austin Police Department will graduate a total of 93 new officers during ceremonies at 2 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017. Commencement ceremonies for the 137th and 138th cadet classes will take place at the Great Hills Baptist Church, 10500 Jollyville Road. The graduating cadets, who will be commissioned during the ceremony, successfully completed a demanding 32-week training program (137th) and a 16-week modified training program (138th).
The training that the 137th and the 138th cadet classes received included legal issues, driving, crisis intervention training, community policing, leadership, defensive tactics and physical fitness.
Starting at 1 p.m., Chief of Police Brian Manley will conduct an inspection of both cadet classes prior to the graduation ceremony. During the ceremony, he will administer the Oath of Office to the cadets. Awards will be presented including Honor Cadet and Humanitarian Award.
