Austin, TX - On Thursday, July 13, 2017 Austin-Travis County EMS presented the Outstanding Citizen Award to Marcus Weakly, an LBJ High School 9th grader who recently saved a pediatric patient from drowning by rescuing him from the bottom of the deep end of a swimming pool. Without Marcus' heroic actions the patient probably would not have survived.
Marcus was playing beach ball with his friends when he noticed a young boy at the bottom of the deep end of the pool. Marcus said "I swam down to take a look and to see if he was going to come up, he didn't so I pulled him up and got him out of the pool." Bystanders called 9-1-1 and initiated CPR before EMS arrived.
