August passenger traffic decreased by 72.4% compared to August 2019 with 419,475 passengers flying during the month.

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Passenger traffic at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport remained lower than usual in August, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; however, cargo numbers continue to remain robust with Atlas Air moving into the top spot for the month. August passenger traffic decreased by 72.4% compared to August 2019 with 419,475 passengers flying during the month.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for August 2020 was 419,175 down 72.4% compared to August 2019. August 2020 enplanements totaled 206,379, down 72.3%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 149,457 down 69.1%; American Airlines passengers totaled 87,942, down 67.1%; United Airlines passengers totaled 47,176, down 77%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 45,264, down 79.4%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 37,080, down 49.8%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 20,359, down 62.1%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 11,183, down 89%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 9,987, down 78.2%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 9,029, down 32.5%; and Sun Country passengers totaled 1,998, down 75.1%.

August 2020 air cargo totaled 19,942,099 lbs., up 34.7% compared to August 2019. International air cargo totaled 34,651 lbs., down 97.6%. Atlas Air carried 7,765,913 lbs.; Federal Express carried 7,441,113 lbs., down 6.8%; and United Parcel Service carried 2,429,588 lbs., down 29%.

Air Services transferred 642,331 lbs. of mail, down 15.5%; and 528,861 lbs. of belly freight, down 66.4%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 3,221, down 5,6%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 11,536, down 35%.

 

January – August 2020

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – August 2020 was 4,522,322 down 60.5%, compared to January – August 2019. January – August 2020 enplanements totaled 2,254,840, down 60.6%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 1,522,783, down 60.9%; American Airlines passengers totaled 913,004, down 55.1%; United Airlines passengers totaled 575,803, down 65%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 575,740, down 63.2%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 315,823, down 33.1%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 181,532, down 55.5%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 155,886, down 72.4%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 141,912, down 62.4%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 63,012, down 56.6%; British Airways passengers totaled 29,217; Lufthansa passengers totaled 15,883; Air Canada passengers totaled 10,317; AeroMexico passengers totaled 10,293; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 6,397, down 75.1%; Norwegian Air passengers totaled 3,474; Swift Air passengers totaled 928; VivaAerobus passengers totaled 197; and Miami Air passengers totaled 121.

January – August 2020 air cargo totaled 128,703,504lbs., up 9.1% compared to January – August 2019. International air cargo totaled 4,684,257 lbs., down 64%. Federal Express carried 60,746,354 lbs., down 3.1%; Atlas Air carried 31,120,623 lbs.; and United Parcel Service carried 20,976,549 lbs., down 16.3%.

Air Services transferred 4,851,809 lbs. of mail, down 29.3%; and 7,879,180 lbs. of belly freight, down 45.2%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 21,826 for January – August 2020, down 21.5%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 89,237, down 35.5%.
