Arrested: Thomas Dean Mixon, White male, 59 years-of-age
The Austin Police Department Robbery Unit and the FBI Central Texas Robbery Task Force are working in conjunction to investigate a bank robbery that occurred on Monday, February 26, 2018, around 9:45 a.m. at the Plains Capital Bank located at 12319 N. Mopac. The suspect displayed a handgun and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no reported injuries during the robbery.
An employee of the bank provided a possible suspect description of a White male in his 50’s, stocky build, armed with a semi-auto handgun and a possible vehicle description. A short time later, APD Patrol and FBI task force officers located a similar vehicle in the 6100 block of Sierra Leon Dr.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of Thomas Dean Mixon, who was booked into the Travis County Jail for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Mixon’s potential involvements in additional bank robberies is currently under investigation by the FBI task force.
