City of Austin administrative offices and other municipal facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 26-27 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Given the continuing “Stay Home, Work Safe” guidelines issued for the global COVID-19 pandemic, service schedules and office closures for the City of Austin’s facilities and public services will be modified for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Trash and Recycling Schedules
All trash, recycling and compost (or yard trimmings) collections will "slide" forward one day on Thanksgiving. You will be affected if your regular collection day is Thursday or Friday. Check your personalized curbside services calendar and set up reminders for all your collections on our website or download the Austin Recycles application: austintexas.gov/myschedule. The Recycle and Reuse Drop-Off Center will be closed Thursday, November 26, but remains open by appointment only Friday and Saturday.

Austin Public Health COVID-19 Test Site Schedule and Dashboard
All Austin Public Health COVID-19 Testing Sites will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26.  On Friday, Nov. 27, the only COVID-19 test site open will be the Ana Lark Center test site, located at 1400 Tillery Street, Austin, 78721, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  On Saturday, Nov. 28, the COVID-19 test site schedule will be as follows:

  • Southeast Library: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Little Walnut Creek: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Givens Park: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Montopolis: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Ana Lark Center: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Pflugerville: 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. (no appointments)

The COVID-19 surveillance dashboard will not be updated on Thursday, Nov. 26, but will be updated Friday, Nov. 27.  To schedule a COVID-19 test through Austin Public Health, visit austintexas.gov/covid19.

Parks and Recreation Facilities Schedules
Most Parks and Recreation facilities will remain closed due to COVID-19; however, there are a few exceptions (e.g. Golf Courses, Tennis Centers). Thanksgiving hours vary based on facility, so please call ahead or visit austintexas.gov/parks to see modified hours.  Information on facility/amenity closures can be found at www.austintexas.gov/parkclosures.

GolfATX courses will open Thursday Nov. 26, with final reservations & carts issued at 12 p.m. Driving Ranges will close at 1:30 p.m. and pro shops and concessions will close at 4:30 p.m. Pro shop and concessions will close at 4:30 p.m.  City Tennis Centers will close on Thanksgiving Day and reopen on Friday, Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. City of Austin pools will be closed on Thanksgiving. For specific facility hours over the holiday weekend visit, www.austintexas.gov/pools.

Austin Public Library Schedule
Austin Public Library, Recycled Reads Bookstore, and the Austin History Center branches will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and remain closed Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, November 27. Library resources available remotely can be accessed at the Austin Public Library Webite: library.austintexas.gov.

Austin Animal Center Schedule
The Austin Animal Center will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, remain closed Thanksgiving Day, and Friday, Nov. 29. The center will be open during its regular hours Saturday and Sunday.
