The City of Austin Economic Development Department’s Music & Entertainment Division will host a fourth Amplified Sound Compatibility Engagement Meeting from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at City Hall, 301 W 2nd St.
The meeting will include a presentation of draft recommendations by Jocelyn Kane, a consultant with the Responsibility Hospitality Institute (RHI) . The draft recommendations stem from a series of focus group discussions, community engagement meetings, and online surveys.
Three previous stakeholder engagement meetings held in November, December and February were utilized to gather input and priorities from stakeholders to improve compatibility between live music and entertainment venues, residents and hotels.
“As Austin continues to develop, it’s imperative that we preserve both our unique music culture and Austinites’ quality of life,” said David Colligan, Acting Assistant Director. “This community engagement process shows that transparency, regular communication, and cooperation are crucial for building trust to identify and improve compatibility issues resulting from Austin’s growth.”
Input provided from all engagement forums and update will be presented to the Austin City Council at the end of April.
RSVP to the Amplified Sound Compatibility Engagement Meeting is encouraged, but not required at bit.ly/2I7gYLu.
