Panel will follow a sneak peek into the City's Cultural Asset Mapping Project
The City of Austin Economic Development Department / Cultural Arts Division will host a panel discussion focused on creativity in today’s world with New York Times bestselling author, Austin Kleon, at Huston-Tillotson University on Thursday, November 17. Steal Like an Artist, based on Kleon’s bestselling book of the same name, will be a discussion of how artists and musicians can promote their work, find their audiences and grow their practice and revenue. The Panel will be moderated by Cultural Arts Division Manager, Meghan Wells and will feature panelists Austin Kleon, Natalie George, Ogden Payne and Jaime Castillo.
A sneak peek into the City’s Cultural Asset Mapping Project (CAMP) effort will be presented at 6 pm before the Steal Like an Artist Panel Discussion begins at 7 pm. CAMP is an initiative to develop community-created directories and maps of what Austinites value as cultural assets. Gain an inside-look at how the culture maps were created and how they can be used to help the City of Austin and community members alike promote, develop, and explore our communities’ cultural assets.
