Day 4: Final F1 update
At 10:30 a.m., the Area Command officially de-activated
Through a coordinated effort, the City of Austin, Travis County and partners achieved their goal of hosting a successful event," says Rodney Gonzales, Deputy Director of the Economic Growth and Development Services Office.
At 10:30 a.m., the Area Command in the Austin/Travis County Emergency Operations Center officially de-activated, as did the Command Posts for Downtown and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA).
ABIA reports heavy traffic with Formula 1 and holiday travel. Airport passengers should make plans to arrive two hours early. Check flight status before arriving at the airport, www.abia.org or with your airline. Roger Wade with the Travis County Sheriff's Office, reported five speeding citations and numerous verbal warnings for violations of emergency order, "pedestrians in the road" were issued over the weekend.
