On Wednesday, January 27, 2021, Austin Police responded to 4604 S. Lamar Blvd. in reference to a crash at 5:50 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located the driver of a White Toyota RAV 4, and a pedestrian who was being treated by Austin-Travis County EMS.
 
A witness at the scene stated the driver of the vehicle was making a left turn out of a parking garage, when she struck the pedestrian. The driver was not aware that she struck anyone at the time of the crash. The victim, identified as 62-year old Susan Soheili, was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with serious bodily injuries. On Friday, January 29, 2021, Ms. Soheili succumbed to her injuries, and was pronounced deceased at 12:15 p.m.

This is Austin’s seventh fatal traffic crash of 2021, resulting in eight fatalities this year. At this time in 2020, there were twelve traffic fatalities.
