The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified Kevin Nelson as the deceased in the August 14 fatality crash in the 9500 block of Circuit of the Americas Blvd.
 
At approximately 5:13 a.m. a 2020 Dodge Ram truck was approaching a large, metal gate with two separate swing arms at the entrance of Circuit of the Americas. The entrance side gate was blocking the entrance and the exit side gate was partially open. The driver of the Dodge maneuvered between the two metal gate arms and the end of the exit gate swing arm entered the cab of the truck and struck Mr. Nelson who was a passenger in the truck. The driver of the truck was also struck. Mr. Nelson died at the scene and the passenger was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
