The City of Austin Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management has released it's 2018 Annual Report.
This report is a glimpse at the previous year for the HSEM office. It was a year of unique and trying challenges for our community, but residents showed how resilient our community is.
The report is available online on the HSEM website: http://AustinTexas.gov/sites/default/files/files/HSEM/2018_HSEM_Annual_Report.pdf
During the previous year the Austin-Travis County Emergency Operations Center and Event Operations Center were active for 43 days for both planned and unplanned events. In addition, the staff at HSEM continued their work of developing and exercising plans, educating the public on community preparedness, and managed critical business projects. All of this work is important to further our mission to serve as the coordinating focal point for preparedness, response, recovery, and education in any emergency or disaster that disrupts the community.
