The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified the victim in the June 23 homicide on E. 12^th St. as Brandon O. Johnson.
 
On Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at approximately 8:23 p.m. 911 received multiple calls of several shots fired at Givens Park. Callers reported that there was a person in a car near the tennis courts at this location. APD officers arrived on scene and located a parked vehicle with a single black male occupant in the driver’s seat who was unresponsive. APD officers removed the driver from the vehicle and observed that he had suffered several gunshot wounds. Officers quickly began to perform life-saving measures on the victim until Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on the scene. The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 9:07 p.m.
 
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians were called to the scene to investigate and process the scene. This case is currently under investigation. 
 
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.
