Location: Cameron Rd./Rutherford Ln.
Deceased: Unidentified male
On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, 9-1-1 received a call of a possible drive by shooting at the intersection of Cameron Rd. and Rutherford Ln. An older model Cadillac was seen crashing into a utility pole after the shooting occurred. Responding APD officers were able to locate the Cadillac and discovered a male driver that had sustained a gunshot wound. Austin-Travis County EMS personnel arrived on scene and transported the male driver to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The male was pronounced deceased at 10:08 a.m. by Dr. Cardenas.
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to investigate and process the scene. On scene witnesses provided information that this appeared to be a “road rage” incident between the Cadillac and a dark grey newer model Audi (possibly an A-4). The driver of the Audi was described as a Black male with short hair.
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death.
