On Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at approximately 10:45 p.m., Austin 911 received multiple calls of shots fired with a woman heard screaming at a specific apartment. Officers and Austin Travis-County EMS arrived on scene and located Casaundra Hernandez, Emilio Maisonet, and a third male individual with gunshot wounds. Emilio Maisonet was located inside the apartment, Casaundra Hernandez was located just outside the same apartment and the third male was located on the grounds close to the apartment. Casaundra Hernandez was located first. Life saving measures were attempted but were not successful and she was pronounced deceased at 11:05 p.m. Emilio Maisonet was pronounced at 10:48 p.m. As officers were securing the apartment and grounds they located the third male with a gunshot wound. This male was transported to a local hospital where is currently recovering.
Homicide detectives were dispatched to the scene and spoke with one of the residents of the apartment. The other resident had fled the scene. Based on officer observations of the scene, detectives obtained a search warrant for the apartment. Preliminary indications are that Hernandez, Maisonet and the third male went to the apartment to rob the residents of marijuana and money. One of the three fired upon the residents, one of the residents returned fire striking all three individuals.
Detectives do not believe there is a threat to the public as the residents of the apartment were targeted by the three.
