AUSTIN, Texas – On Friday, September 22, 2017, Honor Flight Austin departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for a special flight to Washington D.C. The flight transported 34 Austin-area World War II, Korean and Vietnam War veterans to the nation’s capital to visit and experience the memorials built in their honor. This was the 46th Austin Honor Flight overall, and the sixth this year.
The veterans arrived in ticketing at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) around 10 a.m. The veterans, guardians and staff assembled for a procession, from Gate 5 to Gate 12 around 11:15 a.m. The procession was led by the TSA Honor Guard and Austin Police Department Bag Pipes and Drum Corps.
Honor Flight Austin departed Austin-Bergstrom at 12:05 p.m., arriving at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) at 4:15 p.m. The veterans will return Saturday, Sept. 23, departing from Reagan at 3:45 p.m. and arriving at AUS at 6:05 p.m., all times local.
