The 2014 Republic of Texas Motorcycle Rally is in the books. Over the 4 day period of the rally, Austin-Travis County EMS responded to 25 motorcycle-involved incidents in Austin and Travis County. While this is a slight increase from last years total of 21, we are pleased that we experienced no fatalities and treated/transported fewer patients with critical, life threatening injuries during the same period of time for ROT-2013.
Sunday 2:04 pm - Kelly Ln / Kennemer Dr: Low speed Auto vs Motorcycle collision, ~30’s y/o male transported to St David’s Pflugerville with minor, non-life threatening injuries.
Sunday 12:32 am - 8101 Fm 969 Rd: Report of single motorcycle and rider on the ground after losing control and striking curb. ATCEMS was cancelled prior to arrival, secondary to patient leaving the scene. No patient found.
Saturday 11:12 pm - W 18th ST / San Antonio ST: No patient transports from Auto vs Motorcylce.
Saturday 10:00 pm - Lake Austin Blvd / Atlanta St: 1 patient from single motorcycle collision-Motorcycle vs Fixed Object. 50’s y/o male transported to University Med Ctr Branckenridge with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Saturday 6:37 pm - 8000 Decker Ln (Outside of Expo Center grounds): Truck vs Motorcycle. 40’s y/o male patient transported to University Med Ctr Brackenridge with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Saturday 5:20 pm - 4853 - 4909 Fm 2222 Rd: Single motorcycle accident. 30’s y/o male transported to University Med Ctr Brackenridge with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Saturday 4:56 pm - E William Cannon Dr / S IH 35 Svrd Sb: No patient transports from Truck vs Motorcycle.
Saturday 4:28 pm - 8700 - 8814 Research Blvd Sb: Auto vs Motorcycle. Upon arrival to the scene all patients involved refusing treatment, evaluation or transport.
Saturday 4:02 pm - E Ben White Blvd Svrd Eb / S Congress Ave: Auto vs Motorcycle, 1 patient refusal obtained of 1 adult female.
Saturday 12:39 pm - Ed Bluestein Blvd Nb / Techni Center Dr: Reported 2 Motorcycles vs 2 autos collision. 1 adult female transported to St Davids Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Saturday 11:45 am - 5200 - 5300 N IH 35 Svrd Nb: Single motorcycle downed. ~40’s y/o male refusing transport.
Saturday 10:43 am - 8210 E US 290 HWY SVRD WB: Reported Motorcycle vs Motorcycle collision. Both motorcycles left the scene prior to ATCEMS arrival, No patients found.
Saturday 2:08 am - 86 - 96 N IH 35 Svrd Sb: Report of rider falling off motorcycle and motorcycle on fire. No patients transported from incident.
Saturday 1:55 am - 7311 Decker Ln @ Travis County Expo Center: ~20’s y/o female declared Trauma Alert and transported to University Med Ctr Brackenridge with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries after losing consciousness post falling from motorcycle.
Saturday 12:37 am - 5610 N IH 35 Svrd Sb: Single Motorcycle incident reported as ~50’s y/o male declared Trauma Activation after falling from bike. Patient transported to University Med Ctr Brackenridge with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Friday 10:35 pm - Harris Branch Pkwy / E Parmer Ln: Auto vs Motorcycle, ~30’s y/o male transported to University Med Crt Brackenridge with critical, life-threatening injuries.
Friday 9:38 pm - 7000 Decker Ln: Auto vs Motorcycle, 2 motorcycles involved collision with 5 patients reported. Motorcycle patients both declared Trauma Alerts and transported to University Med Ctr Brackenridge – Adult male with critical, life-threatening injuries and adult female with serious potentially life-threatening injuries.
Friday 2:59 pm – S Augusta Dr / S Venture Blvd: Adult male lost control of his motorcycle on gravel surface and fell from bike. ~70’s y/o male transported to Cedar Park Regional Med Ctr with non-life threatening injuries.
Friday 2:40 pm - Elmira Rd / E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd: Truck vs Motorcycle collision, all patients refusing transport.
Friday 12:57 pm - Willow Creek Dr / E Riverside Dr: 3 vehicle collision including 1 motorcycle, no patients reported, ATCEMS response cancelled by APD prior to our arrival.
Friday 3:42 am - Red River St / E Cesar Chavez St: Motorcycle vs Motorcycle collision reported to be at low speed. 1 motorcycle left the scene prior to ATCEMS arrival. 2 remaining patients refusing transport.
Friday 2:23 am - N Us 183 Hwy Svrd Sb / Woodland Village Dr: Single Motorcycle collision called in by Williamson County. Adult male transported to Round Rock Med Ctr with non-life threatening injuries.
Thursday 8:44 pm - S Congress Ave / E Stassney Ln: ~20’s y/o male reportedly “fell off motorcycle” with reported loss of consciousness. Patient declared Trauma Alert by ATCMES Medics and transported to University Med Ctr Brackenridge with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
Thursday 4:45 pm - S 1st St / Krebs Ln: Auto vs Motorcycle reported at >20mph. ~20’s y/o male declared Trauma Alert by ATCEMS Medics and transported to University Med Ctr Brackenridge with serious, not expected to be life-threatening injuries.
