Narrative: On Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 8:10 a.m., Austin Police responded to a check welfare call in the 200 block of West Cesar Chavez. Officers arrived and discovered William Roy Greer deceased.

Greer was pronounced deceased on scene. The investigation has shown that Greer was assaulted and killed along the Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail near West Cesar Chavez Street and Colorado Street. His body was found at 8:09 am on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Mr. Greer was homeless and had recently arrived in Austin.

Austin Police would like to speak with anyone who:

• Saw Mr. Greer on Monday night (7/23/12) or early Tuesday morning (7/24/12) • Knew Mr. Greer and/or his associates • Witnessed an argument and/or assault involving Mr. Greer • Has any suspect information or any information relevant to this investigation
