Austin police, fire and Austin-Travis County EMS responded to 12507 Rampart Street on December 23, 2018 at approximately 12:34 p.m. following an emergency call that reported someone at the residence had been shot. Upon arrival, EMS and fire personnel attempted to save gunshot victim Eric Allen. Despite their best efforts, Allen was pronounced deceased at the scene.
 
The Travis County Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death from a gunshot wound. The manner of death was homicide.
 
APD homicide investigators responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Allen’s death.
