Narrative:
On, Friday, February 3, 2012, at 3:06 a.m. Austin Police responded to a shooting in the 11300 block of Staked Plains Drive.
A preliminary investigation shows that the victim was involved in a crash nearby. He left the scene of the crash by walking in the direction of the 11300 block of Staked Plains Dr. The victim then returned to the vehicle and left again in the same direction. For unknown reasons the victim entered onto the front yard of a property in the11300 block of Staked Plains Dr. and was confronted by the property owner who had retrieved a firearm. According to the property owner he shot the victim as the victim was attempting to flee.
At this time, investigators do not know the reason why the property owner shot the fleeing victim.
The property owner was taken into custody. APD then consulted with the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office on the drafting of the probable cause affidavit charging the property owner with murder.
He has been identified as: Fred Yazdi, White male, (D. O. B. 08-15-1964)
This case is being investigated by the APD Homicide Unit and is being reviewed by the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office.
