AUSTIN, Texas – A party on the patio, live music, a ribbon cutting ceremony and a water cannon salute for the first flight to Austin’s new South Terminal created the festive atmosphere at the grand opening for the newest terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The first flight receiving the water cannon salute was Allegiant’s Austin – Albuquerque nonstop.
The South Terminal features a stylish, retro, mid-20th century interior design. The exterior is marked by sleek white canopies, onto which changing colors are projected. Opening the South Terminal expands the capacity of Austin’s airport with three new gates. The opening of the South Terminal is the completion of a $12 million renovation to a 30,000 square foot facility. The renovations and terminal operations are overseen by LoneStar Airport Holdings, LLC. The South Terminal is a public/private partnership between Austin-Bergstrom International LoneStar Airport Holdings, LLC.
The new South Terminal is accessed only from the south boundary of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport campus. The south side of the airport is accessed by taking US 183 to Burleson Road. The South Terminal has its own parking and amenities for travelers.
