Suspicious Death Investigation on Lakehurst Drive
Inaccurate details reported by people other than the APD

Deceased: Sophia Nicole Martinez, Hispanic female, D.O.B. 08-25-1999
Narrative:
On Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 11:28 a.m., Austin Police responded to a check welfare call at 2409 Lakehurst Drive. A 13-year-old female was found unresponsive and was transported to Dell Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. There were no obvious signs of trauma to her body.
The Travis County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy but a final ruling is pending toxicology results.
The APD Homicide Unit’s investigation is quickly progressing and investigators believe they will have a clear understanding of what caused the girl’s death within the next few days.
There have been many inaccurate details reported by people other than the Austin Police department and we ask for your patience as we gather more information to determine how this young girl died.
The deceased girl has been identified as:
Sophia Nicole Martinez, Hispanic female, D.O.B. 08-25-1999.
