The preliminary investigation shows that a 2014, gray Mitsubishi sedan was traveling southbound in the inside lane of the 11200 block of N. Mopac southbound. The driver of the Mitsubishi stopped to yield right of way to an emergency vehicle when a 2012, white Chevrolet pickup failed to keep assured clear distance and struck the Mitsubishi from behind.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 6:20 p.m.

This is Austin’s 23rd fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 24 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, there were 19 fatal traffic crashes and 20 traffic fatalities.
