Deceased:  Messiah Zion Mouton, Black male, DOB 12/05/05

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a 1997, red BMW was traveling northbound in the 6000 block of Springdale Road and lost control. The vehicle skidded sideways before flipping and striking a utility pole.
 
The passenger in the vehicle, Messiah Zion Mouton, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This is Austin’s seventh fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in seven fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, there were five fatal traffic crashes and six traffic fatalities.
