Austin’s 80th traffic fatality of 2012; only 53 in 2011
Case: 12-3661241
Date: Monday, December 31, 2012
Time: 6:07 p.m.
Location: North US Hwy 183 southbound service road/ East US Highway 290 westbound service road
Deceased: Fernando Cuba, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 12-21-1992)
Narrative: APD’s preliminary investigation shows that a maroon 2000 Chrysler Town & Country minivan was travelling southbound on the N. US Highway 183 southbound service road. The minivan ran the red light at the E US Highway 290 westbound service road and was struck in the driver’s side door by a gray 2007 Ford Explorer Sport.
The driver of the minivan was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-5594. This is Austin’s 80th traffic fatality of 2012. At this time in 2011, there were 53 traffic fatalities.
