All traffic crashes, injuries and deaths are preventable. Help Austin reach the Vision Zero goal of zero traffic deaths or serious injuries by 2025. In Austin, about 80% of crashes that kill or seriously injure people in our community are caused by one of the six dangerous behaviors below. Avoid them and you dramatically reduce your own risk of a crash.
Distracted Driving: I will focus 100% on the road and avoid distractions, whether I am driving, biking or walking.
Speed: I will slow down, even when I am late or in a hurry, because I know slower speeds save lives.
Driving Under the Influence: I will NEVER drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Improper Movements: I will drive attentively and allow sufficient time and space when changing lanes, making a turn, passing, and going through intersections.
Failure to stop: I will stop at all stop lights and stop signs, and check carefully before proceeding.
Failure to yield: I will be courteous and give others the right-of way, especially those walking and biking.

By signing this pledge, I am joining the Vision Zero movement to protect myself, my passengers, and other people from harm. I never want to hurt or kill another person on the road – and I’ll act to make sure I don’t. I will encourage others to do the same.
